My name is Allie. I'm 27 years old with a passion for travel. In college, I started out as a pre-med major, but soon found that it wasn't enough. I decided to apply for a semester study abroad program in Germany and, once I got there, I realized that I had found my calling. I returned home, started working at the Study Abroad Office on my campus, and realized that was the place for me.
At some point along the way, a co-worker got accepted to the TaLK program. I pretty much stalked them (and other blogs I found) as much as I could. I quickly realized that teaching abroad was perfect for me. I applied to the TaLK program, got accepted, but decided to withdraw for personal reasons at the time. I still knew I wanted to go though, so the dream was definitely not dead.
I ended up studying abroad for a second time, for 2 weeks in China, just before leaving my college town. I went back to live with family while finding a serving job to pay some debt and the bills. I am now debt free and was able to save a large sum to springboard my adventures in Korea.
I'm now living in Daegu, which was my first choice, through the EPIK program and I couldn't be happier. I've been here almost three years, now teaching elementary students after two years teaching high school. I've been busy teaching, traveling, doing things I've never done before, getting to know some awesome people, and learning this new culture.
